Friday 29th July ’22 from 1 – 3pm here at the Y
The Family Roadshow was a partnership initiative between Cupar YMCA-YWCA and Fife Council. This was the second event of summer ’22. The first roadshow on 8th July was a great start to the school holidays for families.
The Roadshow was all about encouraging families to play and learn together and to meet up for a chat and catch up! At times of financial challenges for families, this was a chance for adults and children to access free local activities.
Funding and Support
Funding for the roadshow came from Fife Council’s Local Planning Budget (Adult Learning). As previously mentioned, this was a free event for participants. We were grateful for support in the form of donations received once again from Morrisons of St Andrews and Tesco Cupar.
Our Venue
The event took place both indoors in our large hall and out in the play space at the rear of the YMCA-YWCA. The car park was coned off and used for the police van.
Staffing for the event was provided by the YMCA-YWCA staff team and volunteers and Fife Council part-time youth workers.
Workshops and Activities
There were lots on offer – visits from Tesco Community Champion, Elaine making smoothies, Community Police Team members, Duncan and Dawn, with their police van, dressing up clothes and the beer goggles. David, The Animal Man Mini Zoo, had an hour-long session with pet handling out in the play area. A series of activity tables with scratch art, cake decoration, badge-making, colouring and puzzles sheets, plus outdoor floor games and activities such as the train set, giant bricks, chalk drawing, skittles and hop scotch.

Goodie Bags
Families received a free goodie bag to take home which included snacks, colouring and activity sheets, and science activity booklet.
An amazing 71 adults and 117 children attended the event!
Here’s what Our Families Thought
At the end of the session, we asked for feedback and comments were written on feedback fishes! We had some great responses!
